This is America?
The President is a Threat to Democracy
January 21st, 2026
Like most Americans I am angry and frustrated with the constant turmoil, mayem, hypocrisy and overreach by the current President. That fact that a man so unfit for any elected office is still President of the most powerful nation on earth is fundementally at odds with all my values and sense of decency and fairness. I am horrified at the reckless deployment of masked thugs let loose to terrorize communities with brutal tactics and the excessive use of force resulting in the murder an American citizen. And there is a new threat to unleash our own military against U.S. Citizens. This is America?
What happened to America First? What happened to reducing inflation as Americans struggle to pay for the basics; food, utilities and housing? The President's illogical obsession and weaponization of tariffs hurts Amercians, especially our small businesses. Our Federal government who used to be our partner in improving the lives of Americans, protecting our rights and ensuring the health and safety of our citizens has turned into a belligerent tyrant destroying institutions, taking away healthcare for millions of citizens, capriciously canceling grants for medical treatments and therapeutic drugs, undermining renewable projects that would help us meet energy goals and threatening our allies and the stability of NATO. This is America?
This President has just one Motto; "Might makes Right". He respects nothing but raw power. And now because he can, he is threatening another sovereign country and NATO ally. This is a dangerous escalation that turns the United States of America into a thug and a bully, destabilizing and undermining our interests and making the world a more dangerous place. This is America?
Trump is in violation of the Constitution of the United States and disregards the separation of powers. Repudiating the courts, weaponizing the Department of Justice and dismissive of the Legislative branch, or whatever is left of it. The greatest generation fought a hard won foreign war to protect those principals and yet here we find the enemy is within. Yes, this is America.
